The rotary auger bored piling is the foundation solution using a conventional kelly bar and auger system. Connecting the Kelly bar by Kelly box, the rotary auger can drill into soft soil, stiff clays or rock layers.

Soil drilling augers are designed in different ways as below:

box:200mm*200mm;150mm*150mm;130mm*130mm;100mm*100mm; 75mm*75mm or as per client’s request.

Body: Cylindrical shape

Spiral:   Single spiral or double spiral

Cutter: Single cut or double cut

Wearing parts: Flat teeth V19/V20/18T/25T/BFZ72/BFZ80, fishtail pilot and holder

Wearing protection: Hard facing (standard) or wear strip (optional)

For different soil condition, various types of tooth are available and the auger can be equipped with soil teeth 25T for drilling in clay ,silt or hard clay teeth BFZ72 for drilling in medium dense sand, and gravel. We also optimize the geometry of the tooth arrangement for excellent cutting performance.

Soil auger are compatible with Bauer BG, Soilmec SR, Casagrande, Mait, IMT, CMV, XCMG, Sany, Zoomlion rotary drilling rigs and others.

1. What is a drilling auger?

A drilling auger is a tool used in construction and geotechnical engineering for boring holes into the earth. It's a large, spiral-shaped drill bit typically attached to a rotary drilling rig.

2. How does a drilling auger work?

The auger, when attached to a rotary drilling rig, rotates to cut through soil or rock. As it rotates, its spiral blades convey the drilled material back to the surface, clearing the hole.

3. What are the common uses of drilling augers?

Drilling augers are primarily used in construction for creating foundations for large structures, installing utility poles, and similar applications. They're also used in geotechnical engineering for soil sampling and testing.

4. Can drilling augers be used in all types of soil?

Drilling augers are versatile but their efficiency depends on the soil type. They work well in soft to moderately hard soils. For very hard rock or dense soils, specialised augers or drilling methods may be needed.

5. What factors determine the choice of a drilling auger?

The choice depends on the project requirements, such as the depth and diameter of the hole, the type of ground, and the desired speed and efficiency of drilling.

6. Are there different types of drilling augers?

Yes, there are various types of augers, including flight augers, bucket augers, and continuous flight augers, each designed for specific conditions and purposes.

7. How deep can a drilling auger go?

The depth a drilling auger can reach varies based on its design and the power of the drilling rig. Some can drill several metres deep, suitable for most construction and sampling needs.

8. How is the drilled material removed from the hole?

The spiral design of the auger blades transports the drilled material up and out of the hole as the auger rotates.
